This partially hand-polished piece of natural copal amber was mined in Colombia. It has a relatively thin flat shape. This natural copal amber specimen formed from ancient tree sap which hardened over time after falling to the earth over 1,500,000 years ago and becoming buried by sediments. It is transparent and has beautiful golden-yellow color. This genuine copal amber specimen has very good transparency for viewing the small insects and other organic debris within it. It is very interesting to examine under magnification! There are several dozen tiny 1.5 million year old insects still trapped in this specimen including a couple of larger winged insects (the winged insect in the close-up photo at let is 12mm long) and a tiny spider!
