Sphene is also known as titanite. It is a calcium-titanium silicate. The hardness of sphene is only about 5.5, so it is suitable for use in jewelry only as earrings and pendants, not as a ring stone. The dispersion of sphene is higher than that of diamond! As a result, sphene gemstones often show incredibly beautiful flashes of reddish, orange, yellow, and green colors. Be sure to se our selection of genuine sphene jewelry items including sphene pendants and sphene earrings.
