It appears almost black, however when held near a light its dark greenish blue natural color perpendicular to the c-axis is easily visible as shown at left. This natural color tourmaline is black along the c-axis. It is semi-transparent, with a greenish-blue body and a thin green color zone right at the natural termination. The prismatic faces and the termination are in mostly good condition with some abraded edges. It makes a very nice specimen of natural dark indicolite tourmaline just as it is, although this blue tourmaline crystal would also yield over 20 carats of lightly included cabochon gems.
