It has natural surface features on its front side showing unique aerodynamic patterns with a sawn & polished backside. Indochinites appear black, however when held up to a light they actually show a rich dark brown color in thin areas along edges! This tektite is known as an "Indochinite", which have been shown by K-Ar radiometric age dating to be approximately 700,000 years old. Tektites

According to mineralogists, tektites are natural silicate glass that formed during a meteorite impact. These natural tektites are thought to have been created in the extreme heat and pressure produced during a large meteorite impact on or near the earth's crust.

Indochinite Tektite
The tremendous force and heat of the meteorite impact is believed to have melted some of the surface of the earth along with the meteorite itself, fusing them together into a natural glass which cooled quickly while it was falling back down to the earth after the meteorite's explosive impact.
