In Sri Lanka where this gem was mined and faceted, such multi color sapphire gems are known as marriage stones due to the distinct natural color zones which mix and blend together after the gem is cut. This gem is actually tri-color with rich golden areas, bright yellow areas, and blue-green areas! These colors mix and blend in the gem so that it appears greenish-yellow under some types of light and it looks yellowish-green under daylight! After faceting, the local Sri Lankan miners carefully heated this gem at low temperature. Other than this careful heating by the miners, this sapphire gem is completely natural and it has not been treated in any other way (no diffusion treatment).
